Our story
Shelia Matteson Stager graduated from the Mountainside Hospital School in 1962. She worked on the surgical ortho floor and retired after 41 years at St. Clares Hospital in Denville, NJ. Shelia had a servant's heart and lived her life caring for everyone around her. Shelia dedicated herself to helping and serving others, even until the very end. She lost her husband, Bill, in 2010 after forty-eight years of marriage. Shelia had three children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, all of whom miss her dearly.
Our goal
This scholarship seeks to honor the life and legacy of Shelia Matteson Stager by supporting students who are pursuing careers in nursing.
"Doing easily what others find difficult is talent; doing what is impossible for talent is genius."
