Our story

Sheila was a bright light and unrivaled force for positivity and growth in nursing and nursing education for more than 30 years. There's no better way to carry on her legacy than to further the education of students who otherwise would not be able to pursue nursing.

Our goal

This fund will support the Sheila A. Burke Memorial Scholarship, which supports underserved students who will become dedicated and caring nurses, just like Sheila.

We first met Sheila when she came to Dallas to work for the VNA. We quickly came to enjoy her company, spending many pleasant evenings with her. We came to value her insights as she helped us through the loss of our mother. She provided career guidance to our daughter/niece as she started her career in social work.
