Shaw Foundation Academic Scholarship Fund

I created the Shaw Foundation Academic Scholarship Award to provide need-based and merit-based financial support to African American, Latino, and Hispanic students throughout the Metro Atlanta area who are committed to pursuing higher education and building meaningful futures. I believe deeply that education is one of the most powerful pathways to opportunity. Yet far too many talented students face financial barriers that can limit their ability to continue their academic journey. This scholarship was created to help ease those burdens—giving deserving students greater opportunity to focus on learning, growing, and preparing for the futures they envision for themselves. The Shaw Foundation Academic Scholarship Award is designed to recognize African American, Latino, and Hispanic students who demonstrate:

• Academic promise and dedication
• Resilience in the face of challenges
• A strong desire to pursue post-secondary or advanced education
• A commitment to personal growth and positive community impact

This award is about more than academic achievement. It recognizes effort, perseverance, potential, and the determination to create a brighter future. By providing financial assistance alongside encouragement and support, the Shaw Foundation seeks to empower students to remain confident in their abilities and steadfast in pursuing their educational and personal goals. My hope is that this scholarship serves as both support and affirmation—a reminder to African American, Latino, and Hispanic students across Metro Atlanta that they are not alone in their journey, that their potential is recognized, and that their dreams are worthy of investment. Through the Shaw Foundation Academic Scholarship Award, we hope not only to help students pursue higher education, but also to invest in the next generation of graduates, professionals, leaders, and community changemakers who will strengthen Metro Atlanta and the communities they call home.
