Serve Greater Scholarship Fund

Ivadell Vernon was a beloved mother who passed away in 2017 after a battle with cancer and is remembered fondly by her community. Ivadell volunteered at Gate City Christian School and loved advancing the education of local students. When she passed, Ivadell was honored as being someone who #servedgreater. All who knew her remember her as an exceptional woman of faith who loved the students she served and always went out of her way to show kindness, grace, and love to others. This fund will be used to create a scholarship that seeks to honor Ivadell Vernon by supporting students who share her passion for going above and beyond in the name of service. The scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior at Gate City Christian School in Virginia who embodies the attributes for the meaning #servegreater (by going above and beyond, thinking differently, treating others with kindness, doing what’s right, and going out of their way to help others).
