Our story

This scholarship was inspired by my younger sister Faith, who was born prematurely and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Despite the obstacles that come with her disability, Faith has always been one of the happiest and most loving people I know. Her life has taught me that joy and purpose are not determined by circumstance but by heart, faith, and perseverance. Through her, I have learned the importance of compassion, service, and helping others see their worth and potential. The Seeds of Faith Scholarship represents my commitment to serve and love others in a way that reflects the heart of Jesus. As written in John 13:34–35, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” This verse is the foundation of this scholarship and a reminder that when we love and lift one another, we reflect the goodness and grace of God.

Our goal

The Seeds of Faith Scholarship was created to uplift and empower minority college students with disabilities, and aims to plant seeds of hope, encouragement, and opportunity by helping students continue their academic journeys despite the challenges they may face. The scholarship will support minority college students with visible or invisible disabilities who are entering their second semester of college. These students have already taken the courageous first step in pursuing higher education, and this award seeks to help them continue their journey with confidence and support. Recipients will be asked to share a brief essay or video discussing their personal background, how their disability has shaped their perspective, and their aspirations for the future. There is no minimum GPA requirement because the emphasis is on resilience, faith, and the desire to grow. Our goal is to grow this fund over time to impact more students each year. The scholarship will be open to students with physical, sensory, intellectual, learning, neurological, or chronic health disabilities, both visible and invisible, and aims to promote inclusion, awareness, and encouragement within the academic community. Ultimately, the Seeds of Faith Scholarship is more than financial assistance. It is an act of love and service, a seed planted in faith with the hope that it will blossom into strength, opportunity, and lasting impact in the lives of those it touches.
