Our story
This scholarship fund was created by Allen Wasinger and Becky Hutchins, the owners of Compelled Fitness and Nutrition in Wichita, KS. Compelled is an affiliate of CrossFit and their goal is to help members of the community get into better shape and improve their health and wellness.

In 2018, Sacha Curry called to inquire about joining our gym. She told us she needed to get strong and we would come to find out she was battling Leukemia and had been for several years.
Sacha was a staple in our early morning classes, but found friends in all of the classes she attended. She was loved by everyone she met and she was incredibly supportive of each and every member she worked out with.
Sacha worked hard with the intent of beating cancer, and not only did she get strong, she also encouraged so many others to never give up on themselves. She was a teacher for Wichita USD 259 and had an intense passion for helping kids. There is no doubt she has impacted thousands throughout her career.
Sacha passed away in August after a 9 year cancer battle. She leaves behind a husband and 3 children.
We are creating this scholarship for aspiring teachers in her honor. We hope to provide a $500 scholarship each year to a deserving candidate who shows passion for the teaching profession, like Sacha had.

Sacha was an encourager and influencer. She was a competitor fighting a battle many didn’t even know about. Her politics energy was contagious and will not be forgotten!
