Rising Horizons Scholarship Fund

Growing up in a low to moderate single-parent household, all of my life I witnessed my mother struggle. Being on governmental assistance with housing and food, the pursuit of education, for me was crucial to create a substantial difference in lifestyle for myself and family. The achievement of an undergraduate degree would create career opportunity that would allow access to change. The government access to college funding during my early college years was paramount to my initial pursuit of a college degree but there were other expenses also related to the pursuit of higher education that weren't accounted for. I know from experience particular salaries would prevent access to government assistance in relation to college funding and does not take into account an individuals living cost, as these have risen, nor takes into account competing responsibilities for any respective individual. My goal is to help with financial access to offset college related expenses, to prevent potential loan debt or help an individual with demonstrated need have access to higher education.
