Our story
This is a memorial fund for our father, Randall Davis who recently passed away at 90 years old. The things he loved most were people and music. He sang on the radio when he was a teenager (way back in the 40's!) and started The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartets Singing in America or SPEBSQSA for short! Our earliest memories of childhood were of running through the house darting in and out of singers and honky tonk musicians while occasionally stopping to sing something with them. Our home was always filled with music. Music of all genres: pop, country, opera, choral, any and every kind of music. He played the piano and the guitar and the banjo and all of his children and grandchildren sing and/or play an instrument, some of us professionally. We never gathered together that we didn't all end up around the piano. Even as his health was waning, music continued to be a driving and soothing force for him. His memorial was a joyous celebration of everything he loved most in life.
I believe that nothing would give him more joy than to know that someone else might benefit from his joy of music. We'd like to hear what music means to you and how it has helped or filled your life.

Our goal
This is a memorial music scholarship in honor of our father, Randall Davis. It is intended for low-income high school seniors and/or undergraduates who need financial help pursuing any type of music study. Applications should include an essay explaining what kind of study the student is doing or wants to do, what their goals are, and how music has impacted their lives.
