Our story

Perry Brown was an actor, dancer, choreographer and ballet teacher who had an amazing career performing for audiences around the world and across the country. He acted in movies, television and on stage, playing major roles in over 50 plays. He danced with major ballet companies across the globe. He represented the United States at the International Ballet Festival in Havana, Cuba in 1984, where he was awarded an honorary diploma by famed ballerina Alicia Alonso. His journey began when he received a scholarship to study with legendary acting teacher Stella Adler. Next he received a full scholarship to the School of American Ballet. He was a professional ballet dancer for 15 years and a ballet teacher throughout his life, up until the last couple years, when cancer closed the final curtain. He died March 18, 2025. Education was always very important to him. He earned an MFA in ballet from TCU. A scholarship in his name to support young actors and dancers in their education is the perfect way to honor his memory.

Perry's influence and encouragement and excellent teaching made Renate a better dancer. Because of Perry, Renate was able to dance with The Joffrey Ballet. He was an amazing mentor.

We only knew Perry through Mary, but it's clear that support for the arts - especially at this time - is something close to both their hearts and we're honored to contribute in his memory.
