Our goal

The Rotary Club of Pearlridge has spent three years volunteering at the Pu'uloa Springs area, turning it from a weed-covered plot to a welcoming area with many Native Hawaiian plants. In addition to many hours of landscaping we swept the area for trash and debris, and still do. This is not an official Rotary scholarship, but rather an off-shoot of the work done there. It will be open to Hawaii students. It is not necessary to major in the field of ecology, I am looking for students who will consider volunteering throughout their schooling and career, as many Rotarians do. The focus of this scholarship: - To foster a mindset of continued environmental stewardship - To encourage participation in Rotary - To generate thought-provoking ideas for community engagement - To inspire students to consider the value of restoring and caring for our ‘aina. Preference will be given to students who have volunteered in gardens and other environmental efforts, as well as those in an Interact club.

Thank you Lasar for all your hard work and dedication to sustaining and improving our natural environment. Especially getting our Interact students to Malama the Aina on Saturday mornings at 7:30 AM.

Many in Hawai'i believe that the health of the people depends on the health of the land. I want to support the future caretakers of our land.
