Our story
The Monroe Justice and Equality Memorial Scholarship
is in honor of Mr. Henry T. Monroe (H.T.) and Mrs.
Effie Monroe. They were strong and resilient parents,
grandparents, and great grandparents that never allowed
the negative power of racism to detract from the moral
values they so strongly held. In the face of generations
of adversity both great and small, they never wavered in
their conviction of a solid education and strong work
ethics. Though they endured the trials of racial bias from
their youth well into their adult lives they always served
as a pillar of hope for their family and the community,
and a sterling example of resilience!
Our goal
The Monroe Justice and Equality Memorial Scholarship fundraiser will help raise funds to support the education of our youth. The aim of the Monroe Justice and Equality Memorial Scholarship is to encourage young people to attend college or law enforcement program and courageously work toward eliminating racial inequality within the American legal system.
