Our story
Mohamed Taha (2001-2022) was a native of California and Khartoum, Sudan who was a rising junior at MIT. Mohamed was a passionate young man who had deep love for his country and a special talent for poetry. He was studying Course 6-9 at MIT, Computer Science and Cognitive Sciences. He was brave and compassionate -- always willing to lend a helping hand and be a voice for others.
Our goal
We are creating this fund to raise money towards the Mohamed Magdi Taha Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is in honor of our loved one, Mohamed Magdi Taha (2001 - 2022). Mohamed was a native of California and Khartoum, Sudan who was a rising junior at MIT. He passed tragically in August of 2022, and we are starting this fund to honor and further his legacy.
Mohamed was a passionate young man who had deep love for his country and a special talent for poetry. He was studying Course 6-9 at MIT, which is Computer Science and Cognitive Sciences. He was brave and friendly and compassionate -- someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand and stand up for what was right.
These qualities of an 'up-stander' are what we are looking for in future scholarship recipients. We are looking to create a scholarship to support students studying in the US who have interests in STEM and/or the arts. Scholarship amount would be $1,000-$2,000 and awarded annually to one or more recipients over the next 10-15 years.
