Our story

My father, Otis Mattox Jr., was a truly remarkable man. He served our country as a proud Army veteran, always showing dedication, courage, and a strong sense of duty. After his military service, he channeled that same drive into his civilian life, becoming a successful owner-operator of his own FedEx truck. What really stood out about my dad was his love for learning. He was always taking courses and earning vocational degrees to better himself and his business. He believed deeply in the power of education and hard work, and he lived those values every day. Sadly, we lost him unexpectedly to glioblastoma grade 4, a devastating brain cancer. Despite this terrible loss, his legacy of perseverance and self-improvement continues to inspire us. He was not only a dedicated professional but also a loving father who taught us the importance of striving for excellence in everything we do. To honor his memory, we've created the Otis Mattox Jr. Continuing Education Scholarship for Veterans. This scholarship aims to help other veterans who, like my dad, are driven to further their education and entrepreneurial goals. By supporting this fund, you help keep his spirit alive and give veterans the opportunity to achieve their dreams. My dad's life was all about dedication, resilience, and growth. Through this scholarship, we hope to share his story and inspire others to pursue their own journeys of learning and success.

Our goal

My father, Otis Mattox Jr., was a proud Army veteran who embodied resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to personal growth. As a civilian, he became a successful owner-operator of his own FedEx truck, continually striving to improve his skills and knowledge by pursuing various vocational degrees. Tragically, we lost him unexpectedly to glioblastoma grade 4, a devastating blow to our family and all who knew him. In the wake of his passing, I felt a profound need to honor his legacy in a way that would reflect his values and life’s work. Thus, the Otis Mattox Jr. Continuing Education Scholarship for Veterans was born. This scholarship aims to provide financial relief to veterans who, like my father, are driven to further their education or entrepreneurial ambitions. Our goal with this fund is twofold: to commemorate the enduring legacy of a man who never stopped striving for excellence, and to empower other veterans to pursue their dreams without the burden of financial barriers. By supporting this fund, you are helping to create opportunities for veterans to achieve their educational and entrepreneurial goals, thereby continuing the spirit of growth and service that defined Otis Mattox Jr. Your contributions will not only honor the memory of a remarkable individual but also make a tangible difference in the lives of veterans dedicated to advancing their futures. Together, we can ensure that my father's legacy lives on, inspiring and uplifting others as they embark on their own journeys of growth and success.
