Our story
Mary (my mother) touched the lives of many students. She worked in the USD 500 school district in KCKs as an English teacher for many different age groups, such as high school, junior high school, and middle school students. She also worked as an assistant principal for a short term later in her 31 year tenure in the district before retiring. Mary also was an instructor in the evening at Dickinson Business College for more than 10 years as well as worked with behaviorally challenged teens in a local community based group home. She enjoyed helping those students earn GED’s and diplomas. Mary devoted her entire career to educating students.
Our goal
This scholarship fund will honor Mary’s legacy of 31 years as an educator and assistant principal in Kansas City, Kansas .
It will also help support an African American or Hispanic/Latino senior that plans to pursue an undergraduate degree in education.
