Made for More Educational Scholarship Fund

We are starting this fund to create sustainable, community-powered support for the Made for More Educational Scholarship, an initiative of Truly Wicked, Inc. (TWSC). This scholarship exists to support Oakland and Bay Area youth—particularly first-generation students and those who have experienced housing insecurity, foster care, or justice-system involvement—as they pursue college, trade school, or vocational training. The inspiration for this fund is rooted in lived experience. Returning to school as an adult made it clear how overwhelming educational costs can be, even when motivation and ability are strong. Too often, students with the drive to succeed are held back not by a lack of talent or vision, but by financial barriers that feel impossible to overcome alone. Our goal is to award a $1,000 annual scholarship that helps reduce those barriers while affirming that every student is worthy of investing in. This fund is about more than tuition or supplies—it’s about reinforcing the belief that young people are not defined by their past circumstances, but by the futures they choose to build. Through community-centered fundraising events, we aim to turn collective support into real opportunity. Every contribution helps move a student closer to a future filled with purpose, joy, and possibility—and reminds them that their community sees them, believes in them, and knows they were made for more.
