Kids Like Us Foster Youth and Adoptee Scholarship Fund

When I set out to single foster parent in 2020 I had no idea it would bring so much to my life : two kids that will stay forever, a beautiful growing online community, and a desire to keep blazing the trail of advocacy for foster and adoptive kids like us. As I've entered a season of parenting post-adoption, I've developed a new sense of purpose in this space. The first of many things that I'd like to do is provide access to further education through scholarships to current and former foster youth and adoptees. We don't need research to tell us that we are less likely to succeed when it comes to education. We've see it first hand as the cycle repeats in our communities. My hope is that together through these scholarships we may see the next generation of those who've "beat the system", rise above and far beyond it. Whether it be trade school, community college, or a 4 year university degree, I want to see kids like us redefined. Not with labels like orphan, foster kid, or adoptee. But doctor, lawyer, stylist, teacher, mechanic, and anything else they dream of being.
