John Greiner grew up in a hardworking farming family, and later enhanced his education through the Navy, which equipped him for a thirty-year career maintaining facilities at East Syracuse Minoa School District.
He recognized that education could open doors across various fields. While many now associate higher education with four years at a university, there are alternative paths for advancing one’s knowledge and qualifications. For students interested in hands-on experience or a shorter educational journey, trade schools can be an excellent choice. Learning a trade and earning a license can lead to This scholarship aims to honor the memory of John Greiner by keeping his legacy alive and encouraging students to pursue as much education as they desire.
The donations will fund scholarships focused on supporting those students pursuing a career in the trades. We define a trade as any career requiring special hands on skills typically learned through a trade school, appreticeship, or vocational training rather than a four year college degree. Some examples include but are not limited to: construction, maintenance and repair, healthcare support, hair dressers, automotive mechanics.
