Our goal

In February 2021, our family experienced a devastating loss. Our brother John passed away unexpectedly, leaving a huge void in the lives of all who knew him. John was a wonderful brother, a loving and thoughtful son, a proud father and papa, as well as a nephew/cousin/friend/co-worker to so many people. John was a lineman and was a proud 20+ year member of the IBEW Local 104, here in New England. He loved helping train new apprentices, and doing storm duty in communities that were ravaged by hurricanes, floods, blizzards, and the other natural disasters. He spent time in Louisiana and Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, and in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. He always maintained that those were some of his proudest moments. My sister, brothers, and I have established the John Geremia Memorial Trade Scholarship in order to help provide as many $1000 individual scholarships to students who are looking to enter the trades, whether it be a lineman, an electrician, a plumber, a carpenter, a pipefitter, a welder, a mechanic, etc.. John was extremely proud of his profession, and we would like to help instill that sense of pride in someone who may be taking a different path to a career in the trades. That education is just as, if not more so, important as a traditional college degree, and our goal is to support you in that endeavor. We would greatly appreciate any contribution, great or small, that you might make to this fund. Our lives have been forever changed by our loss, but it is the reason we wish to make a difference in someone else's life for the better.

John Ed was not only my nephew, he was one of my best friends. I miss him everyday. A life cut too too short. May someone benefit from this scholarship and find hope! Joe Walsh

Remembering John brings back so make precious moments. John marched to his own tune, avoiding others' toes along the way. A nice boy and a nice man who loved his family so much.

What an honor it will be for a future tradesperson to apply and be awarded a scholarship named after my nephew, John Ed, a modest, kind, hardworking and dedicated man who was so proud of his challenging and fulfilling career.

I still mourn my son's passing. I can perhaps have people remember him in a fitting and proper way.
