Our goal

James A. Oliver graduated from Williamston High School (now Martin county high school) in 2006. James started Oliver Fence Company in 2019. He built his business on principles of honesty, integrity, and quality. He believed his customers should be treated with respect and fairness. He loved interacting with and getting to know all manner of people through his work. James built his business in such a way that after his passing in 2025, Oliver Fence Company could continue to be operated with those same principles. This memorial scholarship aims to support entrepreneurial-minded students, like James, who are forging their own paths in the world and preparing to start their own businesses. In addition, one of James’ best qualities was his deep desire to serve and care for others and make their lives better. He loved to see people smile and be happy and never had a second thought about helping those in need.

I did not know James but the good fortune to know his Mom and Dad and I know the kind of good people they are and have heard the same wonderful things about James! He would be so proud of this scholarship that his family has started. God Bless James! May this beautiful gesture grow and grow and benefit another young adult!
