Our story

Ismat was a lifelong learner, kind, positive and always innovating. She was a natural leader and dedicated her life to raising her 5 children, while managing a household inclusive of her in-laws. When her husband moved to the US to pursue the American dream, she raised her 5 children as a single mother in a male dominated Pakistan, until she joined him with her family in 1996. Even in Pakistan, she never shied away from having them explore all the opportunities like sports (swimming being the family favorite), theatre, concerts, and a house full of pets. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her family. She loved to write and over the years had been pouring her heart and soul into a novel that she never got to publish. With the help of her daughter, she did publish a children's book, "Chuno and Muno become friends", available on Amazon.

Our goal

Ismat was passionate about making a difference in the world and truly believed "education" was the key. She would have loved to pursue higher education but dedicated her life to raising her five children and prioritizing her family over her dreams. This memorial scholarship fund is to honor our mother's legacy and allow her dream to live on through empowering Muslim Women to not give up on their educational journey and do their part in making this world a better place!
