Help Empower Women in Puerto Rico: The Sara Molina Memorial Scholarship Fund

In 2023, I created the Sara Molina Memorial Scholarship to honor my late mother, a woman whose strength, love, and resilience shaped the lives of everyone around her — especially her children. This scholarship supports women in Puerto Rico who are pursuing an education and striving for a better future, even in the face of hardship. My mom, Sara, grew up in Villalba, Puerto Rico. She left school after third grade to help support her family, never learning to read or write. Life gave her many challenges, but she met them with quiet determination and a belief in possibility. After moving to New Jersey and being left to raise four children alone, she worked long hours — cleaning homes and offices — to make sure we had what we needed. She never had the opportunity to go back to school, but she understood the power of education through what she saw in her children. My mother often said, "Si puedo" — Yes, I can! That spirit lives on in this scholarship. This fund provides support to women in Puerto Rico attending or planning to attend college or vocational/technical school — women who, like my mother, face obstacles but hold on to hope and the will to improve their lives.
