Healing Futures Scholarship Fund

I created the Healing Futures Scholarship because I believe the future of healthcare must be both culturally informed and community-rooted. As an African American who holds a B.S. in Nutrition Science and has over 20 years in health and wellness, I’ve seen firsthand how representation changes outcomes. While African Americans make up 13% of the U.S. population, only 5% make up practicing physicians. That gap impacts trust, access, and the quality of care in profound ways. The Healing Futures Scholarship supports African American graduate students pursuing medicine, public health, mental health, nursing, nutrition, or wellness—with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a demonstrated commitment to healing underserved communities. Applicants will also need to meet additional requirements. My goal is to award a minimum of one $1,000 scholarship each year, with the hope of expanding the fund over time. Your support will help train the next generation of culturally aware healers—leaders who will challenge bias, dismantle stereotypes, and deliver care rooted in empathy, equity, and cultural specificity. This isn’t just about funding education. It’s about shaping a healthcare system where every patient is seen, heard, and cared for with dignity.
