I have the fondest memories of my friend. We met at derby, and continued the friendship afterwards. Gretchen helped save me once. They never knew that and I wish I had told them.

Gretchen was my slightly older cousin. Growing up, I always looked up to her with admiration and a little intimidation. In many ways, she embodied who I wanted to be, but was not yet brave enough-- daring, quick to laugh, creative, thoughtful, and just chaotic enough to be absorbingly interesting. I'm grateful her best traits will be celebrated in this way, as inspiration and help to others who will follow her pioneering, artistic, keen-eyed example.
