Frederick and Bernice Beretta Memorial Fund

I am establishing this fund in loving memory of my parents, Frederick and Bernice Beretta My Dad was a kind and gentle man. As a physician in San Diego with Rees-Stealy Medical Clinic, he spent his life helping and healing others. Even into his 90s, he was still giving comfort and medical advice to family, friends, and neighbors. He was an old-school physician, making house-calls whenever needed, whatever the hour. He made nursing home and hospital rounds on the weekends, checking up on his patients’ welfare. When my Mom became disabled, due to a stroke, he lovingly cared for her for 14 years. I am so proud of my Dad ! My Mom was a kind and loving woman, who devoted her life to raising her sons. She was involved in scouting and PTA as we grew up, and often had neighborhood kids over to our house. At my 30th high school reunion, many classmates remembered my Mom for her kindness toward them, and for her homemade milkshakes ! After suffering a debilitating stroke, she continued to show kindness, humor, and affection. Mom was a champ ! The Frederick and Bernice Beretta Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a student in California who has financial need.
