Our goal

Every year, approximately 20,000 children in the U.S. age out of foster care. Entering adulthood can be challenging for any young adult, but for those leaving foster care, the transition can be especially difficult without a strong community or support system in place. While scholarships do exist for students who have experienced foster care, the reality is that navigating bills, responsibilities, and unexpected setbacks often creates a high-stress, no-margin-for-error environment. Too often, this forces students to give up their education just to afford housing, food, and basic necessities. The purpose of this scholarship is to join with the community to help ease financial burdens, giving students aging out of foster care the opportunity to pursue their education with stability and confidence, knowing they are supported along the way. Each year, two scholarships of $1,500 are awarded to deserving students, who are invited to submit a short essay sharing their experiences, challenges, and aspirations.
