Our story

If you walked into Eve Newton-Gill’s world, you felt it immediately—you mattered. Eve had a rare gift for seeing people clearly and calling them forward into who they could become. She was a powerhouse—whether she was at home as a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, or leading as the Director of Volunteer Services at Kaiser Permanente Panorama City, she showed up with the same unmistakable presence: warm, strong, and deeply invested in the lives around her. Through her Summer Youth Employment Program, Eve ushered high school students from underprivileged communities into the world of healthcare—and into a new vision of themselves. She gave them hands-on experience, real-life job skills, and guidance through the college application process. She didn’t just open doors, she showed her students how to walk through them with confidence. But more than that, she gave them belief. She challenged them, supported them, and expected something from them because she knew they were capable of more. Eve impacted countless lives not only through what she did, but through who she was. She was more than a leader; she was a force who shaped people. She changed the trajectory of her students’ lives. With her signature blend of tough love, humor, and unwavering confidence in their worth, she helped young people see possibilities they may have never imagined for themselves.

Our goal

This scholarship was created to carry that legacy forward. Any low-income high school senior or undergraduate student who is attending or has attended high school in the San Fernando Valley of California may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they are pursuing healthcare, human services, education, the skilled trades, or business.
