Our goal

We are starting this fund to sustain an annual scholarship for girls at the Big Lake High School looking to pursue a STEM degree. We are doing this in memory of our family member Noelle Olson who passed away suddenly in March 2024 at the young age of 29. Noelle attended Big Lake High School, obtained her PhD from the University of Minnesota and worked at 3M as a scientist before passing away. We would like to use her story and legacy to give back to the community she was a part of to inspire girls to follow in her footsteps.

Saddened to learn about a friend I had made at a scientific conference. This scholarship is a wonderful idea to support women in STEM.

I was Noelle's mentor when she participated in the summer undergraduate research program at the University of Michigan, and I am deeply saddened to learn of her untimely passing. Not only was she an outstanding student who made important contributions to our lab's research program, but she was an incredibly kind and friendly face to have around the lab. I hope that my contribution can help to honor her legacy by supporting other girls wishing to pursue STEM degrees.
