Desire To Inspire Scholarship Fundraiser

Hey! I hope that all has been well with you! For those of you who don’t already know who I am, my name is Christel Wekon-Kemeni, and I’m currently a Pediatric Nephrology Fellow. I am also the creator of Black Man, M.D., a blog dedicated to crushing negative stereotypes and providing both resources and inspiration for those hoping to pursue a career in healthcare. As a direct beneficiary of a full-tuition scholarship in college and multiple scholarships during my time in medical school, I fully understand the incredible impact that these financial awards can have on one’s life. Not only do they provide an affordable avenue for a high-quality education, but they also provide the recipients with amazing opportunities that may have otherwise been deemed inaccessible. Because of these reasons, I made it a personal mission of mine to one day be able to provide scholarships to others to alleviate any financial burdens that may hinder them from reaching their goals. Fortunately, I've been able to fulfill this mission for SIX years in a row with scholarships going to high school students in Florida, Ohio, Texas, Louisiana, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, and California! This could NOT have been done without the help of all the generous donors who have contributed to the scholarship fund over the past six years, as well as the judges who have helped review the scholarship applications over the same time period! I’m forever grateful for these incredible people! With the overwhelming success of the past six scholarship cycles, I continue to remain committed to making this scholarship an annual endeavor that students can benefit from for years to come. As you may already know, inspiration was a crucial part of my upbringing, as I’m sure it was in yours. Being inspired is such a powerful feeling, and it has the potential to enable someone to achieve feats that they may have once deemed impossible. We all have been inspired at some point in our lives; do you remember how that made you feel? Do you remember what that feeling allowed you to believe you could accomplish? Do you remember the people who allowed you to experience that wonderful feeling? Inspiration is such an essential aspect of an individual’s development, so important that I continue to have this desire to sustain a scholarship dedicated to highlighting young people who inspire others! Just like the most recent scholarship cycle, The 2025 Desire To Inspire Scholarship will be dedicated to recognizing young individuals from historically underrepresented minority groups who are interested in a career in healthcare and are making a determined effort to inspire others in some way, shape or form. The scholarship will be used for educational purposes, which will help the recipients reach their goals and their full potential while continuing to inspire others! Because of the many exceptional individuals willing to contribute to the scholarship fund these past six years, this scholarship has continued flourishing and expanding! Their generosity and belief in the mission have helped motivate me to continue providing this opportunity to underrepresented minority students across the nation. They have been directly responsible for helping students pay for college! Just like in past years, we are collecting donations to fund The 2025 Desire To Inspire Scholarship. Allowing the scholarship to be supported by generous people like you who believe in what the scholarship stands for and are willing to help fund young students as they continue to inspire others while working towards their respective educational goals is what makes this scholarship so unique and remarkable! I genuinely believe that if you could donate just a small amount to help fund this scholarship, you will significantly impact someone’s life! You’ll be playing a role in inspiring someone else to give a few of their dollars to help sustain this scholarship and will also be playing a part in inspiring future scholarship recipients in unimaginable ways! With enough people donating a few dollars to this, we’ll easily reach our financial goal for the seventh year in a row, and future recipients will have the chance to be rewarded for their work in inspiring and motivating others!
