Our story
He was a retired Chicago police officer with 28 years of law enforcement experience, and had served as a Crittenden County High School resource officer for the last two years. Deputy Coyle was known to always be a positive role model for not only student but faculity, staff, and anyone else that ran into him. Deputy Coyle was always known to bring a smile to others faces.
Our goal
This fund is for the Deputy Coyle Legacy Award. Deputy Rick Coyle was serving court paperwork over legal guardianship on April 2nd, 2026, when he was shot by a suspect inside the residence. Deputy Rick Coyle sadly succumbed to his wounds on April 30th, 2026.
Deputy Coyle was the School Resource Officer for Crittenden County High School and was known to be involved with the children and to bring positivity every day. He would have wanted the tragedy to be a source of growth for the community and to have inspired the next generation of passionate students to make their communities safer and better.
This scholarship seeks to honor the memory of Deputy Rick Coyle by supporting students who are preparing to embark on their futures.
