Our story
In honor of my mother's memory, I am establishing a scholarship to support individuals who, like her, are on their educational journey later in life. My mother courageously returned to college at the age of 40, a decision that not only demonstrated her resilience but also profoundly changed the course of her life.
After more than two decades in a demanding retail career, her return to education opened new doors, allowing her to embark on a completely different career path. The skills and knowledge she gained transformed her life, enabling her to contribute significantly to educational causes, the community, and various charities. Her story is a testament to the transformative impact of education at any stage of life.
This scholarship aims to assist individuals over the age of 40 who are seeking to complete their college education. It is designed for those who, for various reasons, were unable to complete their studies earlier and are now ready to embrace this life-changing opportunity.
The scholarship will provide $2,500 annually to two deserving students who embody the values of perseverance, lifelong learning, and community service. This initiative reflects not only my mother's journey but also her belief in the power of education to change lives and empower individuals to give back to their communities.
Through this scholarship, I hope to honor my mother's legacy by supporting individuals who are taking bold steps to change their lives through education, just as she did. Her story is a beacon of hope and inspiration, showing that it is never too late to pursue your dreams and make a meaningful impact on the community.

Debra Jackson left an indelible mark on me and I often think of her. So I wanted to honor her earthly born day, September 23rd by continuing to contribute to her beautiful legacy. May the most honorable Reverend Debra Jackson continue to rest in peace in presence of our Lord and Savior! Miss you, dear Friend! Ivan L. Crutch
