Our story
Cody R. Mordecai was a welder, a father and someone who touched the lives of those who knew him so much so that a great friend, Josh Lambert, stepped forward and paid for the funeral services. Cody quietly carried struggles that others could not always see and refused to seek help as he seen it as weakness. He lost his life to suicide after believing he wasn't enough. He left behind a beautiful daughter that I hope one day sees this scholarship that holds her father's name and all the students it helps throughout the years.
Our goal
The Cody R. Mordecai Memorial Scholarship for Future Tradesmen was created in memory of my brother, Cody Mordecai. Cody was a skilled welder, a hardworking tradesman, and someone who touched the lives of those who knew him. Like many people, he quietly carried struggles that others could not always see. He lost his life to suicide after believing he wasn't enough.
Through this scholarship, we hope to transform that loss into something meaningful. Our goal is to raise funds to support students pursuing careers in the skilled trades by providing scholarships in varying amounts each year. Whether they dream of becoming welders, electricians, HVAC technicians, carpenters, mechanics, or entering another trade, we want to help remove financial barriers that stand in the way of their future.
More importantly, we want this scholarship to carry a message that extends beyond financial support: You are enough. Your worth is not measured by your struggles, your mistakes, or the burdens you carry. There is value in your life, in your dreams, and in the unique gifts you bring to the world.
By contributing to The Cody R. Mordecai Memorial Scholarship for Future Tradesmen, you are not only investing in the next generation of skilled workers—you are helping keep Cody's memory alive and spreading hope to those who may need the reminder that they matter.
Thank you for helping us honor Cody's legacy through opportunity, compassion, and the belief that no one walks alone.
