Our story
Christian wasn’t just a sports passionate teen, he had the confidence to make even the shyest sibling feel like they could take over the room with their head held high. He was strong and athletic, but most of all, he was such a great helper. Between carrying bags, wanting to drive the church guest golf cart or helping me cook spaghetti for the family, he always had a heart for spending as much time as he could with his younger sister Makayla. He was an amazing big brother and was a young man of God as well. We miss him dearly and we understand that we don’t decide the times or seasons of life, we just live through them. We honor “Showtime” the way we know how and that is by sharing a piece of his dream through the dreams of other young people with the confidence and calling to change not only “the game” but the world!
Our goal
The Christian Dunbar Athletic Scholarship Fund was created in loving memory of my stepson, Christian Dunbar, who passed away on June 23, 2023, at only sixteen years old.
Christian was a sweet, genuine, straightforward young man whose greatest passions were his family and sports. Known as “Showtime,” he dreamed of playing in the NBA and becoming a game-changer both on and off the court. He carried determination, heart, and a love for athletics that continues to inspire everyone who knew him.
Through this scholarship, I want to keep Christian’s dream and spirit alive by supporting student-athletes as they pursue higher education and their own athletic goals. The fund is meant to encourage young people who demonstrate perseverance, leadership, integrity, teamwork, and a desire to make a positive difference in their communities.
Christian’s life was meaningful, and his legacy deserves to continue creating opportunities for others. Every scholarship awarded is a reminder that his light, his dream, and his impact will never be forgotten.
