Our goal

This scholarship was founded by J'reyesha Brannon, PE, a licensed environmental engineer. Since 2020, this scholarship has supported over a dozen students, providing financial support for female identifying BIPOC engineering students, who are statistically underrepresented across all fields of engineering. The Brannon Diversity in Engineering Scholarship (formerly hosted through J'reyesha Brannon's alma mater, University of Portland) will now be independently hosted, thanks to Bold.org, where she hopes to broaden the impact and support students at schools throughout Oregon and Washington. This scholarship will be directed towards providing financial support for female identifying Black / Native engineering students, who are statistically underrepresented across all fields of engineering, making up less than 2% of engineering degrees. Diversifying engineering is not only necessary for equitable outcomes, but it also foster’s new ideas, innovations, and creativity that engineering’s foundation is in. Awardees of this scholarship will also be offered optional mentorship and guidance through their education and as they navigate their early careers. The intent of this scholarship is to be a small step towards making the engineering workforce more diverse, inclusive, and supportive environment for students diverse backgrounds. J'reyesha Brannon has committed $2K annually towards supporting a scholarship, but additional funds raised will support additional recipients.
