Our story

Avani Doshi, born on November 23rd, 2005, in Pennsylvania, left an indelible mark on our lives. On February 6th, 2017, our world shattered as Avani succumbed to flu-like symptoms, revealing the presence of the insidious DIPG in her brain through a posthumous autopsy. Despite the heartbreak, we choose to remember Avani's graduation year of 2024 with joy, channeling her love for helping others into a meaningful scholarship. Avani, a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Oxford, and an active participant in the FROG Youth Group, epitomized kindness and selflessness. Volunteering at the Lighthouse Youth Center, she touched lives with her warm smile and infectious giggle. Known for her welcoming nature, Avani was the first to greet new students, making them feel at ease. Her interests ranged from board games to drawing, reading, and a perennial desire for a dog. Proficient in sports, especially tennis, her classmates vied to have her on their teams. In our mission to perpetuate Avani's legacy, we draw inspiration from her adventurous spirit, resilience in facing challenges, and her sheer enjoyment of life during her brief 11 years. Avani's memory lives on, and through this scholarship, we aim to embody the love, generosity, and compassion that defined her remarkable presence in our lives.

Our goal

In memory of Avani Doshi, our mission is to honor the beautiful soul that she was, forever remembered for her kindness, intelligence, and selfless nature. We aim to celebrate Avani's spirit by providing a scholarship that reflects her joy in helping others. Our mission is to carry forward the love Avani had for the world, ensuring that her legacy lives on through the support we offer to those who share her compassionate and giving nature.

I love the Doshi family! I wish I could have had Avani as a student. Her big sister, Karina, is a special young lady. I will always have a place in my heart for the Doshi family. Xox

It has been heart breaking and heart warming to see the honesty of grief mixed with the hope of eternity displayed over the last 7 years through the Doshi family. Avani continues to share smiles as her memories live on. It is an honor to be able to be a small part in remembering her.
