Throughout his career with the Upper Darby Police Department, he continued his life of service. As a wrestling coach at both Interboro High School and Marple Newtown High School, Arty profoundly influenced many young lives, leaving a lasting legacy in the wrestling community. Many students participate in athletic endeavors in high school, but only some exhibit true respect for their fellow athletes. When it comes to sports, especially one-on-one sports such as wrestling, it’s easy to allow a competitive mindset to take over, with the need to win overpowering any notions of sportsmanship. The best athletes are the ones who not only excel in practice and on the mat but also in their daily lives as grounded and empathetic individuals.
