Our story

Alex T. Hamilton (a.k.a. "Sandy" in some circles) was a creative, joyful and bold lifelong learner and Educator. He had an insatiably curious mind, and an astonishingly wide array of interests. What made him unique was that his curiosity was often immediately followed by action: "Let's google that!" in the moment, or he'd make a note to look into it later. As a result, Alex always had something interesting going on, which made him an engaging and interesting person: he had a ZEST for living and learning that inspired others. Helping others achieve their goals through education was one of his passions. Alex was the first in his family to go to college, and after he began teaching at the high school level he earned a PhD equivalent in Educational Supervision from Pace University (after a B.A. in English from St. Francis College and a Masters' Degree from St. John's University). In his later years he was involved in guiding students in the Yorba Linda School District, and Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach. His legacy is one of hope, joy, inspiration and ACTION.

Our goal

This scholarship fund will celebrate the principles, values and legacy of Alexander T. Hamilton, a lifelong educator of high school and college students. It will also help fund college scholarships in the range of $500 to $2,000 per student.
