Mission

Antony Cesar was witty, creative, imaginative, sensitive and kind. He touched the lives of everyone who met him. Cesar had a magnetic personality and a lot of friends. He enjoyed playing Pokémon Cards, building Legos, and reading. His favorite series was “Harry Potter” with “Eragon” a close second. Cesar loved going to the movies. His favorite movies were the “Star Wars” series. Cesar had a very close relationship with his brother. He played the flute, wrote poetry, placed in Chess championships and speech competitions, did Karate, Scouts and played LaCrosse. Cesar had many interests: he wanted to be a writer, a teacher, an architect, a dentist, the Secretary of Defense, a hairdresser, a cook. We always muse about the possibilities he had in life, and which direction he would have chosen. At age 15, Cesar left home. When Cesar was 17, he transitioned to female with the new name of Annika Clarise. Annika suffered tremendously and died by suicide at age 18. While we honor their chosen name and identity, the only memories we have are of Cesar. This scholarship aims to rescue at least one transgender youth from the advent of mental illness, discrimination, and suffering by funding educational goals leading to a rewarding life.

Dear Eyzaguirre Transgender Youth Education Fund, I am deeply honored and moved to be selected as the recipient of the Annika Clarisse Memorial Scholarship. Knowing that this award carries forward Annika Clarisse’s life and legacy fills me with both gratitude and a profound sense of responsibility. Her legacy will not be forgotten—I will carry it with me in my work, my studies, and the change I strive to create. Your generosity eases the financial burden of pursuing my legal education, giving me the ability to focus on my passion: using the law to amplify voices that too often go unheard. I plan to enter the field of international law and relations, working across borders to protect human rights, advance equality, and challenge systems that marginalize people like us. I want to stand as living proof to the world that we are real, that we matter, and that our identities are worthy of dignity and respect everywhere. This scholarship is more than financial support—it is a statement of belief in my vision and my voice. It strengthens my resolve to fight for justice for all, to be an advocate for the unheard, and to help shape a future where equality is not negotiable. Through my work, I hope to reflect Annika Clarisse’s courage and compassion, honoring her memory by continuing the fight for a better, fairer world. Thank you for believing in me, and for empowering transgender youth to rise, lead, and be seen. With gratitude, Demitrius Wilson
