Dear Scott/McDaniel, I want to express my gratitude for being selected as a recipient of the Heather Lynn Scott McDaniel Memorial Scholarship. It truly means so much to me to be recognized through this award, especially as it honors someone whose legacy encourages perseverance and hope. Receiving this scholarship eases the financial challenges I face as a first-generation college student working full time while pursuing my degree in Electrical Engineering at West Texas A&M University. Your support allows me to focus more on my studies and less on the financial strain, which is a gift I don’t take for granted. Growing up in Corpus Christi, I learned the value of hard work—helping my mom with construction projects and supporting my disabled sister taught me responsibility and resilience. I’ve carried these lessons into my educational journey, earning my associate’s in Project Management, a CAD certificate, and my irrigation license along the way. My ambition is to work in renewable energy, provide a comfortable retirement for my mom by buying her a fourplex, and create opportunities for others facing similar struggles. I’m honored to carry on Heather Lynn Scott McDaniel’s legacy through this scholarship. Your generosity reminds me that even when life gets tough, there are people out there who believe in supporting others through difficult times. That encouragement makes feel a little less alone in my journey and it inspires me to pay it forward in the future.
