Mission

This scholarship fund is to honor the memory of Jesus Baez-Santos due to his selflessness towards his friends and family. Jesus was a blessing through all walks of life—the kindest soul—and will forever be in the hearts towards of his love ones. Jesus was raised by both immigrant parents and the first in his family to buy their forever home. He always did everything he could to lend a hand to everyone around him. He was the goofiest person in the universe. His laugh was contagious and had always brighten every room he entered. This scholarship aims to keep his legacy by supporting students who are pursuing higher education. The Jesus Baez-Santos Memorial Scholarship will support first-generation BIPOC students, DACA or undocumented students entering their first-year of college. This scholarship will be given annually. Any amount donated in Jesus’ honor would be greatly appreciated and will allow future generations of students to access higher education.

Winning this scholarship means so much more than just financial assistance for my education; it represents a culmination of my hard work, the sacrifices my mother made, and the resilience we've both shown in the face of adversity. It is a recognition of my journey as a first-generation student and a testament to the values instilled in me by my mother—determination, compassion, and the belief that we can overcome challenges. This scholarship not only alleviates some of the financial burdens associated with my education but also serves as a powerful motivator to continue striving for excellence. It reinforces the idea that my dreams are achievable and that my efforts have been validated. Knowing that there are people who believe in my potential and support my aspirations inspires me to give back and uplift others in my community, just as my mother has done. Furthermore, this opportunity opens doors for me to explore my passions, engage more deeply in my studies, and contribute positively to the world around me. It is a reminder that I am not alone in my journey; I carry with me the hopes and dreams of my family, especially my mother, who has always been my guiding light. Winning this scholarship is not just a personal achievement; it is a way for me to honor her sacrifices and continue the legacy of resilience and service that she has exemplified throughout her life.
