Dear Ms. Davis, I am writing to express my deep gratitude in your generosity of choosing me as one of your winners for the Lena B. Davis Memorial Scholarship. I appreciate you for taking the time to read my personal story in living in Kenya and observing the mental health stigma I've seen my loved ones and community experience, causing them to suffer alone and in silence. This scholarship award will help greatly in my journey of attending university as a transfer student by helping ease my financial tuition stresses and in return, aiding me to reach one step closer in pursuing higher education for my Bachelor's, Masters, and PhD in my ultimate goal of becoming a clinical psychologist. There is no greater goal for myself to achieve then to continue working hard in my studies to fulfill my dream of becoming a psychologist in order to combat mental health stigma, providing mental health resources for communities in need, and overall help people realize that they are not alone in their mental health struggles and should not feel embarrassed or ashamed to seek professional mental assistance. Once more, thank you so much for your generosity in choosing me to win this scholarship and providing this scholarship opportunity for myself and other students to have the ability to achieve our dreams and make a positive impact on the world. Your kindness and considerate actions will never be forgotten! Sincerely, Imani Kinyanjui.

Dear Nekia, I’m truly honored and grateful to be chosen as the recipient of the Sewing Seeds: Lena B. Davis Memorial Scholarship. Receiving this award is an incredible encouragement, not just financially, but also personally, as it reminds me that there are people who believe in the dreams and potential of students like me. Your support helps lighten the financial load of my education at Northwestern State University, allowing me to pour more energy into my Mass Communications studies and continue growing as a future news broadcaster. With your help, I’m able to focus wholeheartedly on my goal of someday informing and inspiring others on major networks like CNN. As someone passionate about making the news meaningful and engaging for the younger generation, I’ve always aimed to use my voice for good—whether that’s speaking at my church, at community events, or even at my own graduation. I’m excited to continue developing my skills and strive to become a prominent figure who encourages others to speak their minds and share their stories. I’m glad to have learned about Lena B. Davis through this scholarship, and I feel privileged to help carry on her legacy. Your mission, “One seed. One act. One legacy,” resonates deeply with me and motivates me to make a lasting impact in my community. Thank you so much for your kindness and belief in my future. Thank you, Shona Moses
