Dear Miles Reed Family, I am extremely grateful receive the Kristen Miles Women in Sports Scholarship, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generosity and belief in my journey! Pursuing a career in sports, especially in golf, is not the easiest journey as a women of color in a predominately white, male sport that is tailored for the wealthy and privileged. Your support in my vision as a black woman in golf means more than you may know, and I am honored to be a recipient of this scholarship. I'm sincerely grateful for your kindness, and I look forward to honoring Kristen’s memory through my continued work and achievements in sports. Thank you, Kennedi Lee

This recognition fills me with immense pride and enthusiasm, and I am grateful for the opportunity to honor Kristen Miles’s inspiring legacy through this scholarship. Your support truly makes a meaningful difference in my journey. It eases my financial burdens at Rice University, allowing me to focus more fully on my studies, my family, and my passion for creating a positive impact within my community. As a first-generation Nigerian-American and valedictorian who has faced challenges such as Hurricane Harvey, homelessness, and supporting loved ones, I deeply understand the importance of perseverance.
