Dear Miles Reed Family, I am extremely grateful receive the Kristen Miles Women in Sports Scholarship, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generosity and belief in my journey! Pursuing a career in sports, especially in golf, is not the easiest journey as a women of color in a predominately white, male sport that is tailored for the wealthy and privileged. Your support in my vision as a black woman in golf means more than you may know, and I am honored to be a recipient of this scholarship. I'm sincerely grateful for your kindness, and I look forward to honoring Kristen’s memory through my continued work and achievements in sports. Thank you, Kennedi Lee

Dear Miles Reed Family, I am beyond grateful and deeply honored to be awarded first place for the Kirsten Miles Scholarship. This recognition and generous support means more to me than I can put into words. This scholarship will directly go toward my education and will help ease the financial challenges of pursuing my degree. It gives me the opportunity to stay focused on my studies and continue working hard toward my goals of becoming a physical therapist. Please know that your investment in me will not go to waste—I am committed to making the most of this opportunity, both in the classroom and in my future career. Thank you so much for believing in me and for giving me the encouragement to keep pushing forward. I hope to stay in touch! With sincere gratitude, Yasmine Byron

I am honored to be selected for the Kristen Miles Women in Sports Scholarship. This recognition fills me with immense pride and enthusiasm, and I am grateful for the opportunity to honor Kristen Miles’s inspiring legacy through this scholarship. Your support truly makes a meaningful difference in my journey. It eases my financial burdens at Rice University, allowing me to focus more fully on my studies, my family, and my passion for creating a positive impact within my community. As a first-generation Nigerian-American and valedictorian who has faced challenges such as Hurricane Harvey, homelessness, and supporting loved ones, I deeply understand the importance of perseverance. Thanks to your generosity, I am more motivated than ever to succeed and to give back.
