In March of 2022, my mom Robin, suddenly and tragically passed away in the ICU where I work. She was a single mother who worked tirelessly for years to ensure that I had a proper education; something she had always wanted for herself. My mom was passionate about vacations and going to the beach, (which is why I wanted to include this in our essay prompt) and I often say that it was her love of the sun that allowed her to radiate so much warmth. It's only the first year of this scholarship, but we are so excited to keep growing and looking forward to reading about each of you!
