Dear Lisa, I want to sincerely thank you for selecting me as the recipient of the John Dowling Odom Welding Scholarship. Receiving this support means the world to me, and I feel truly privileged and encouraged to continue pursuing my education in welding. This scholarship eases my financial worries and allows me to dedicate myself more fully to learning the skills I need to become a combination welder. As I work toward graduating in March 2026, I can focus on mastering my craft and preparing for a fulfilling career without the constant stress of making ends meet. As a 31-year-old Tongan American who finds joy in singing, cooking, and all things creative, I’m passionate about bringing my skills and positive energy into the welding industry. I also spend my weekends involved in church and mentoring youth in my community, and this scholarship helps me set an example for them—showing how dedication and support can open doors. I'm honored to carry on John Dowling Odom's legacy through this scholarship. I’ve learned about his impact, and I hope to reflect his passion and commitment in my future work.
