I was born with Cerebral Palsy, so not much was expected of me. Despite that, I was the first person in my family to graduate from college. I went on to earn a Masters in Creative writing from Wright State University and then a PhD in Literature from the University of Toledo. Eventually, I made education my career at Owens Community College. Disabled students face many barriers to education. I want to enable students with disabilities to overcome tuition barriers to higher education, in the hopes that they'll defy expectations as well and become active citizens and creative thinkers.
