As someone who has grown up in a vibrant city, I've seen both its potential and its challenges. My experiences have shown me that urban areas are more than just centers of economic activity—they are communities that require thoughtful planning and equitable development to thrive. I believe that addressing issues like homelessness, gentrification, affordable housing, and sustainability is crucial for creating cities where everyone can prosper. While my career may not directly tackle these urban challenges, I am committed to making a difference through volunteer work and by supporting those who are passionate about this cause. This scholarship is my way of empowering BIPOC students who are dedicated to pursuing careers in urban planning and economics. By providing financial support, I hope to enable these future leaders to drive positive change and create more equitable and sustainable urban environments. My mission is to support and inspire students who are eager to address the systemic issues facing our cities, ensuring that they have the resources and opportunities needed to make a lasting impact.
