Dear Hernando Nieto, Thank you so much for selecting me as the winner of the Dr. Andy Nieto Memorial First Generation Opportunity and Excellence Scholarship. As a first-generation college student, support like this means a lot to me because it will not only alleviate the financial burden on my family but also motivate me to complete my engineering degree and help more people in our society, especially those who have shared the same struggle as I did. As I am writing this thank you letter, I have already began my new journal at UCLA as an Electrical Engineering transfer student. I have enjoyed my time here so far, and I will keep working hard towards my personal and career goals. In fact, I have already taken my first step by joining a research lab in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department. I am really excited to start this position and hopefully make a positive impact on society.
