To the friends and family of August Engler, Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to attend the University of Massachusetts Boston. I’m beyond honored to be selected for this scholarship. From one island to another, I send my condolences to you all. Losing a loved one to drugs is challenging to overcome. I’m grateful that your scholarship prompt has given me an outlet to reflect on how I’ve grown after facing adversity and has allowed me to share a vulnerable piece of myself with you.
