The Central American First-Generation Student Support Fund is a heartfelt initiative inspired by my personal journey as a Salvadoran-born first-generation college graduate. Raised in a community with scarce educational opportunities and constant financial hardships, I faced numerous challenges in pursuing higher education. A pivotal scholarship provided me with financial relief and encouragement, enabling me to graduate successfully. Motivated by this support, I established the fund to assist first-generation students from Central American backgrounds in their first or second year at a community college, aiming to alleviate financial burdens and support their educational aspirations.
