My maternal grandparents took my siblings, mom and me in after we spent the better half of my childhood living in government housing and the backroom of a photography studio. Fast forward a couple decades, plus a heavy dose of unwavering faith, support, and a bit of luck, we’ve finally arrived at a point in our lives where we can help others the way our grandparents helped us. I am forever grateful for their generosity and unconditional love, and intend to use the Ficaar Foundation as a vehicle for my siblings and me to pay their kindness forward. Our foundation's current focus will be on scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students, where we will be subsidizing non-tuition expenses such as course materials, lab equipment, and any necessary educational supplies. In the future, we intend to expand on the scholarships we provide.
