It’s been so hard to express just how appreciative I am to have received your scholarship. Gratitude and enthusiasm are a few things that have come with it. But if I’m being honest, I’m overwhelmed with an abundance of unrecognized yet positive emotions. As a first-generation college student, figuring things out along the way is part of the process. Receiving this scholarship has lifted the financial burden off both me and my family’s shoulders. This year I’ll be studying psychology at the University of Houston. After undergrad, I'll be on my way to pursuing a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. My ultimate life goal is to operate a chain of mental health institutions, where a majority-minority staff guarantees affordable and accessible mental help. I want to thank you again for allowing me to be able to pursue this dream. I would like you to know you have done more than award a college student with financial aid, you’ve provided support for me in a difficult transition into a new phase of life. For that, I cannot thank you enough.
